Whatever / Xenon 135 Poisoning
« on: March 20, 2017, 12:12:03 pm »
A major contribution to the sequence of events leading to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster was the failure to anticipate the effect of "xenon poisoning" on the rate of the nuclear fission reaction in the Chernobyl nuclear reactor.

Neutron absorption is the main activity which controls the rate of nuclear fission in a reactor - the 235U absorbs thermal neutrons in order to fission, and produces other neutrons in the process to trigger other fissions in the chain reaction. To control the chain reaction, neutron absorbers in the control rods limit the rate of reaction, and the moderator (graphite in the case of Chernobyl) slows down the fast neutrons to enable the reaction to be sustained. It is a delicate balancing act requiring detailed knowledge and careful control.

One of the extraordinary sequences in the operation of a fission reaction is that of the production of iodine-135 as a fission product and its subsequent decay into xenon-135. Iodine-135 is a rather common fission product, reportedly amounting to up to 6% of the fission products. It has a rather small probability for absorbing a neutron, so it is not in itself a significant factor in the reaction rate control. But it has a half-life of about 6.7 hours and decays into xenon-135 (half-life 9.2 hours). The xenon-135 has a very large cross-section for neutron absorption, about 3 million barns under reactor conditions! This compares to 400-600 barns for the uranium fission event.

In the normal operation of a nuclear reactor, the presence of the xenon-135 is dealt with in the balancing of the reaction rate. Iodine-135 is produced, decays into xenon-135 which absorbs neutrons and is therby "burned away" in the established balance of the operating conditions. There is an equilibrium concentration of both iodine-135 and xenon-135. But when the power level was drastically lowered at the Chernobyl reactor, the xenon-135 concentration began to increase because the parent iodine-135 was near full-power equilibrium concentration to produce it and the neutron flux necessary to "burn it away" was not present. It would eventually peak and decrease, but with a 9.2 hour half-life, that decrease would come too late!

When the persons conducting the tests on the Chernobyl reactor tried to increase the power at some point in their tests, it would not respond. They apparently did not have the understanding that the failure to increase was due to the absorption of neutrons by the xenon, so they completely removed the control rods to force the increase. The increased power then burned away the xenon and also caused voids in the cooling water, both of which rapidly increased the reaction rate, driving it out of control.

The "xenon poisoning" of the reaction rate had been known for many years, having been dealt with in the original plutonium production reactors at Hanford, Washington. In fact, it was dealt with in the original Manhattan Project where it presented itself as a dilemma - the researchers expected a given configuration to maintain a chain reaction and it failed to do so. They found that they had to increase the fuel concentration to overcome the xenon poisoning. So the phenomenon had been dealt with from the earliest days of our experience with nuclear fission, and should have been known by anyone who was in control of a nuclear reactor.

Community Contests / Theme Park Contest [Results]
« on: February 20, 2017, 01:59:18 am »
I wanted to host a very unique Create-A-Park contest. Instead of making a skate-park, city, or factory the contestants have made a theme/roller-coaster park. The parks where not judged base on how skateable it is, rather the creativity of the rides, design of the park, and how closely the the park follows the building codes set by the rules .

Rubric
 :
Park Scoring Criteria
Have at least two coasters in your park (5)
Have at least two alternative rides in your park. (5)
Have a specific theme to your park. (5)
Have a central decoration to your park. Gardens, Sculptures, Statues all work. (5)
Is the park's paths and zones designated in a logical way to get around to the attractions quickly. Does the park have an entrance/exit? (10)
Does the park have a mascott? (5)
Is the coaster design creative? (Unique layout, drops, inversions, helixes, ect) (10 + up to 5 for every additional coaster up to 4 total coasters. Max 20)
Is the alternative ride design creative? (10 + up to 5 for every additional alternative ride up to 4 total rides. Max 20)
Does the park have decor fitting to the theme. (Only counts for places where guests are intended: Paths, Queues, and the attractions them selves). (10)
Is the central piece use unique, and creative?, Is it placed at the entrance or center of the park? (5)
Does the mascott fit the theme of the park? (10)
Aside from thematic decor, is there any additional attention to detail? (Extra areas, ride booths, lines, ect)(10)

Max Score for your park is 110.

Park Penalties
Having a coaster that cuts player off at any point along the rail. Or having a bobsled fling a player off the ride without any input from the player. (-5)
Using just the Hawaiian Statue without any additions as your center piece. (-5)
Having a simple loop as your coaster. (-5)
Having your coaster come within 12 feet of the guest areas weather above or behind, unless fenced off. (-5)
Having any two or more rides bisect each other along there paths. (-5)
Having any coaster or bobsled be required to move using the players own power, no jumping on and off the rail to gain momentum. (Chainhills, launch stations, and ladders are exempt from this)(-5)

Special Scoring
Having your coaster have the most drops. (To qualify each drop must exceed 12 feet, and be followed by a minimum of 5 unit long straight away, or turn, or hill). (+5)
Longest Drop (To qualify the drop must be followed by a minimum of 5 unit long straight away, or turn, or hill)(+5)
Longest Track (+5)

Scoring
Your score will be the average of what the the judges state.

Judges Score is (Park Score Criteria + Special Park Properties - Park Penalties)

On the day of judging, I will make a video of your park and mascott and upload it to my youtube channel after all participating judges besides my self have sent me the scores.

What can be a coaster
All coasters should be built with the intention of having perfect rail enabled
Any kind of connected rail loop, breaks are allowed in the station and what ever method is used to get the train its power. (Launch Station, Chain/Boost Hill, Ladder)
You are free to decide how to get the coaster it's momentum. (Launch pads to olly, Starting at a high place, ect are all accepted, but you shouldn't have to jump on/off the rail/track to get its momentum
Down Hill Bobsled/Salom Track
Bobsleds are okay for players to gain momentum on there own power, but gravity or some launch system should give them a large chunk of there momentum
Bobsleds are allowed to have jumps with breaks in the track in them, as long as the jump is relatively easy to make.

What can be an alternative ride?
A Race Track. (Must be a circuit track)
A Free Fall Ride
A Target jump ride, kind of similar to that in Super Monkey Ball example:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBEWTAbvp94
A Hedge Maze
Transportation Ride
Basically any attraction that is a ride or has some form of interaction

The Mascot
Your Mascot will be represented as a CAS that you make
Your Mascot should embody the general feel of your park

I want to host a very unique Create-A-Park contest. This time instead of making a skate-park, city, or factory the contestants will be making a theme/roller-coaster park. Your park will not be judged base upon how skateable it is, rather the creativity of the rides, design of the park, and how closely the the park follows the building codes set by the rules .

What you will design
You have to design a theme park with the theme of your choice. You must build at least two coaster rides, but more are preferred. Coasters can be any kind of ride that will take you from point A to point B on a specific track either skating or grinding. Your park must also have two alternative rides, but like the coaster more than two are preferred. You will also have to make a CAS to represent your park's mascot.

Park Scoring Criteria
  • Have at least two coasters in your park (5)
  • Have at least two alternative rides in your park. (5)
  • Have a specific theme to your park. (5)

3. -Empty-

Request in the thread to become a judge.
If you chose to become a judge, you must use the rubric on this post for the specific non-objective quotas.

Notes
This Contest, specifically has objective quotas to try to see what people come up with, and how they choose to achieve that quota. This contest is intentionally supposed to be hard and lengthy so that way nobody can easily whip of a park in a few hours. Custom goals are not required, and unless they are specifically used to enhance an attraction they will not count towards your final score.

Other Games / THPS in Smash Bros
« on: October 23, 2016, 06:22:17 pm »
Heyall. I have been making a Brawl overhaul mod for the past 3 months. And one of the new things I want to introduce would be content from the THPS games.

So I am trying to come up with a moveset for a Pro Skater character, and how they would function.

I also have created a few polls where you can vote for who the Pro Skater character will be.

http://www.strawpoll.me/11492183

And here is a poll for the stage

http://www.strawpoll.me/11492641
You can vote multiple times in this poll

The end goal is to have two pro skaters that are semi-clones of each other be playable, and have 3-5 stages from the THPS games be playable.

I just started working on the moveset he will be built off of the project M version of Ike, and be sort of a floaty and momentum gimmicky character. Right now the moveset is not much more than a proof of concept. But it is too incomplete for me to show just yet.

Current Video

The Color Indicates the following stage of production.
Red = Planned and not stated
Yellow = There, but not balanced or has animation problems
Green = Complete and may need some future work, but is fully playable
Blue = Complete with no or negligible issues

Switching Between On and Off Board
Run/Dash to get off your board, Walk to stay on your board. Pro Skater is slower on his feet, but gets a very fast burst of speed starting his run. Staying on your board, by walking will make your faster.

Underground Punch
This will be Pro Skater's neutral attack. Unlike Ike's 3 hit neutral combo, Pro Skater will just have a single punch. This punch is intended to be a started for combos.

Board Whack
This will be Pro' Skaters Dash and off board attack.

Spine Transfer to Nose Grab to Front Flip
Boon's combo from from THAW will replace the Ather recovery attack.

Freak Out
This will replace Erruption with a Freak Out. Hold the B button to charge up your anger. Charging it partial will deal about 5 to 15 damage, with no flinching but it will cover half of the stage. Fully charging it will deal as much damage as a falcon punch, but it will only stun the opponent slightly. Using Freak Out alone it will be near impossible to KO opponets using it. However

Air Walk
A Meteor Smash Down Air attack that will send the target downwards.

Beinhana
Pro Skater's Back Air Attack.

ButtSlap
Pro Skater will posses 8 weak mid air jumps.

Boneless
Holding the jump button for >=7 frames  will make Pro Skater Preform a Boneless and act as a large jump.

No Comply
Holding the Jump button for <7 frames will make Pro Skater preform a NoComply a normal size jump.

Bailing
We all bail quite often and typically we can only handle getting slapped or burned with a fire ball a few times before we lose. As such the Pro Skater will be a relatively light character, with a very hard time recovering from combo's and metor smashes, and having a low air friction. So you got to master not getting hit.

Moon Gravity
A very popular cheat to use. And because Pro Skater will be a very air-based character, it is vital that he can have good hang time.

Beaver Blast
I have no idea how this would work.

Final Smash: Focus Mode
The Timer stops to a halt (10 seconds), your opponents get slowed by 50%, and you get to keep doing that amazing combo without him able to really interfere with you.

Imagine an internet where nobody gets offended.
Imagine an internet where only Top websites run the net and get priority over smaller websites.
Imagine an internet where anybody can check up to see what you are doing at any time and have a chat.
Imagine an internet where real people moderate and censor content as a living.
Imagine an internet where you are required to log in with your personal information so that way nobody can impersonate you or try to hide from a cyber crime.
Imagine an internet where some websites are simply not allowed to exist.

Sounds good Right?

Well Guess What? ;)

ITS HAPPENING!

YouTube is already been making censorship changes with advertising and YouTube Hero.
Google is censoring non-mainstream-liberal content
ICANN will be ran by the United Nations on October 1st.
European Union is planing to have it be required to use personal information to log on to the internet.
The 50 Cent Army, Correct the Record, and JIDF have employees to censor and remove information.
Unpopular opinions can be deemed as "offensive" or "triggering" and be censored.

I warned that this would happen a while ago, but none of you fools took me seriously.

I know that thpsX Fourms is supposed to be for THUGPRO, but I really want to at least make those of you that read this post be at least skeptical so that way  prepared for all of the chaos that may happen in the following months.
