Speed Boost on Landing

Detailed Description:

THPS1 and 2 feature an often overlooked and understated mechanic where landing tricks gives the player a boost in speed. Landing Special Tricks even further impacts the boost.

Does this suggestion exist in THPS1/THPS2?

Yes. The top speed in these games is not to be understated (look at speedruns for THPS1 that feature jumps up to the mall secret tape rail and across the ravine to the Downhill Jam secret tape). THPS2 actually gives a burst of speed even when you start a manual, allowing you to reach high speeds very easily.

Proper revert animations

Detailed Description:

Reverts in THPS1+2 need to be fixed to better emulate how they worked and looked in THPS3 and up. The current revert animation uses the same animation for switching stance from regular to switch, which is straight legged and takes too long. Reverts are much faster and the skater is crouched because he is taking impact from landing into transition. Currently the reverts look the same as they are in THPS HD and THPS5.

Does this suggestion exist in THPS1/THPS2?

No but the feature is going to be present in the game already so might as well fix it.

Wallrides and Activation Button

Detailed Description:

Wallrides in THPS5 were also done incorrectly. In THPS5, wallrides were automatically activated when you jumped at a wall while angling a bit into the wall. In earlier games, wallrides were activated by holding the Grind button while jumping at the wall. Automatic wallrides take away precise skater control. Precision is key in THPS games so I believe wallrides should only be activated when the player chooses to wallride (by holding Grind).
Side note: When you jump at a wall and are not holding Grind, your skater shouldn’t bail, it should just bump into the wall and slightly angle away from the wall when your skater gets back to ground.

Does this suggestion exist in THPS1/THPS2?

Yes

Wallplant Angle and Activation Buttons

Detailed description:

Wallplants in THPS5 were done incorrectly so I would like to clear some things up for THPS1+2. In THPS5, wallplants only worked when your skater jumped directly at a wall (perpendicular). If your skater was at any other angle than 90 degrees to the wall, it didn’t work. Earlier games used a much wider wallplant allowable angle (~50 degrees on either side). This wider angle opens up so many possibilities for wallplants and would turn this technique into something incredibly useful.
Buttons to activate wallplants should either be Down+Jump and/or holding Down as you approach a wall. (If you are not pressing those buttons, don’t do a wallplant)

Does this suggestion exist in THPS1/2?

No, but it is confirmed for THPS1+2

Allow Bail Recovery Animations

Detailed Description:

Watching your skater picking themselves up after a bail allows for a more immersive and fluid experience. It feels like you’re in the world of skateboarding without interruptions. This has been something that always existed in THPS until the later games. In the later games you would bail, your screen would flash white, and then your skater respawns somewhere near where you left off. There’s no passion in that type of system and damnit we want passion.

Does this suggestion exist in THPS1/THPS2?
If no: please provide reasoning on why it should exist in the THPS 1+2 game.

You bet your ass it does.
