Issues with USB controllers

Previously I have been able to use both wired Xbox360 and XboxOne controllers, but after an update (the one that allowed splitting of the triggers if i recall correctly) I was not able to access the gamepad bindings. At the time it still seemed to have my XboxOne bindings set as I could still use that controller. Recently I tried playing again but I only had my Xbox360 controller, so I tried reinstalling THUG Pro in hopes that the mapping issues would be fixed. Nothing seemed to change except for the fact that now I can't even use the XboxOne controller. (which I expected) I found this thread which looks like the same problem where the person is told to turn updates back on to fix the issue, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that if i've turned them off at some point. Also my PC is running 64bit windows 7. I've tried to make this as detailed as I can, sorry if I've missed something important.

This error appears upon opening the launcher.

The other person showed a screenshot of the launcher which had a button that would only appear if updates were disabled.
To test this theory, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\THUG Pro\Settings in the registry and look for options.
Set its value to 0.
Run the exe and not the launcher.
If the launcher is updated the game wont launch and the newly installed launcher will be executed.
