So hey guys, this is only my first post in this community, but also am glad im part of it even more now  :D , so I am designing, and even going to attempt to make a skateboarding game, its the same idea as the tony hawk games, but without tony hawk or any copyrighted stuff,

ENGINE-
but it would be made on unreal engine, but before you give me c**p for it, let me explain, at least if I use unreal engine I have something to compare my current game so I know if im on the right track, unlike if I used unity or something, I cantt compare it to a game on a different engine, and I know alot of people will say, why not make it kn the sam engine as the old tony hawk games, well id love to, yet I cant as the original engine is called renderware, and EA owns it right now, and dosent allow people to download, or even buy say a 50 or 100 dollar license to use it, they only with negotiate with big companies, so yea '-'

Now as you can see,

LEVELS-
I have 4 levels, its just Skatepark, Suburbia, Factory, and Mall that are done basic design phase, I have 2 bonus levels planned if I can get the rights, as they are two of the levels treyarch made from thps2x, and then also doing some of my own secret bonus levels, like say you do a normal skaters carrer, get a cheat and a secret skater, do the secret skaters carrer, and you get a secret level unlocked

SOUNDTRACK-
I got the soundtrack plan I only got 3 songs so far, but I played other tony hawk games while listening to them, and they work well, untitled and thistopia are rock songs, and the staircase is a hip hop/ rap type song, and to get these songs in the game, im going to get a decent ammount of the game done, then do like a indigogo page or something like that, to raise money for stuff like soundtrack licensing, and stuff like that

SKATERS-
we have skaters, we have me, obviously,  one of my friends, thats who yolo swagger is, as a bonus skater, mabey if I can get rights to put some of dans music in, then I could put him as a skater in the game, and then the pony version of me, so my pony oc.

LEVEL DESIGNS-
Now i can't post the pictures directlly here, as there is a 4 image limit, but I do have 4 maps so far designed, Skatepark, Suburbia, Factory, and Mall, and they all have 9 goals excepts factory, as factory in a competion level, but if you want to see the images, here is a link to a folder with the sketchs and design drawings

Link to pictures: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B--5-5bkL4X5UHctZkp3ME14Mkk?usp=sharing

There we go, there are my ideas so far, now its still in progress, but i will start trying to work on the game soon, and will contuine desgining the game as well, and will give updates when nesiciary, also i made a video on it on my channel, but it does not show the pictures for the mall level, as it was designed after the video was made

Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfgZEMfy-IM

so yea, thank you for reading this, and also leave your opinions, i havent got any feedback from anyone, so id love other peoples inputs, thanks :D

They stopped using renderware with THPS3.
Unreal engine is a bad idea.

Well idk, what engine they used for later ones then, and even then, id have to be able to get my hands on it, but if i can;t then id want to stick with unreal, mainly so i at least have something to compare my work to, so i know im on the right path

But if you have any thing to help, like a good engine i could use then, cause i would want one with decent graphics, and that could obviuslly be used to make a skateboarding game, but if you have any, i'd love to get suggestions or help with that, i don't want this game to be just for me, i want to do it for all tony hawk fans, with feedback and opinions from evreyone durning the whole process of it being made

I also have UE4 and like playing around with it. I'm sure a great skateboarding game could be made with it if done correctly. You'll really have to get custom with the physics if you want to make it feel like the TH games. Your best bet is to study up on how TH games are coded. It's really advanced stuff. I don't think it could be recreated with Blueprints but it's possible if you are coding the classes in C++. Best to start small and build from there. The main thing you want to capture is the snappiness of the original games. If you play THPSHD or THPS5, and then play THUG1/2, you will notice right away how sloppy the controls are compared to the originals. It really needs to be built like a fighter game where you have the least amount of lag as possible for controller inputs.

We've got a lot of amazing tools at our disposal these days but making something on par with what Neversoft did, is most likely impossible for a single person. I am all for anyone giving it a go though!

I don't know where to start, first thanks for giving a damm, now, yea i understand, id have to re do the phsyics, as yes, they are way more crap compared to the older games, which i have played, i own almost evrey tony hawk game, but i also understand i wont get far with just blueprints, i just used it as a design type thing, to get my ideas down, but I know it would take alot of work, but if i could pull it off, it would be great, cause i think alot of people would be really happy, but yea, i understand id try to make it feel like the old tony hawk games, and I understand completly, ive played all of robomodos tony hawk games(minus ride, but have played shred) and the main thing i find really wrong is the physics, i would try to get the basic physics down first before doing alot of devolpment of the rest of the game, but yea, I am trying to do my best, designing, planing, and even trying to get stuff going on UnReal, so yea...  :)

I have a suggestion: For now, just try to get the physics right and allow us to use this engine to port/make our own levels in for starters, there's a ton of that happening with thug pro now.

But that would require a whole diffrent set of codes, and even then, id have to make a working extension for blender and stuff to allowe you to even export the levels into the right files

Sorry, that rambling stemmed from thinking how cool it would be to have something like this to import levels in, a truly next-gen tony hawk game.  Even without that, I would love to see this come out, especially if it feels authentic to the neversoft games (at least closer than Robomodo ever got.) But I truly don't expect this will ever come out, so if nothing else happens having a game with no levels to import levels into made sense in my very tired brain that was for some idiotic reason up at 2AM while typing that drivel.  That being said, the fact you're doing this at all is AMAZING, and I am so proud of you for even trying. Still, weather finished by yourself or with help, it'd be awesome if after it was made it would allow imported levels at some point.  On a slightly unrelated note, to make sure that your physics feel right, maybe you could import a level from thug pro or thpsHD so you have a real tony hawk level to test the physics on?  IDK if that even would work, it's more complicated than that I'm sure, but I wonder if that would help in getting it to feel right.  What era are you trying to emulate anyway?  The thug physics?  The pro skater physics?  The next-gen Proving Ground physics?  I'm excited for anything you do here, man.  KEEP IT UP!

Sorry, you lost me at the notion of having your pony OC in the game as a playable character. And by "lost me," I mean "I starting laughing so hard I lost track of what you were talking about."

I usually lurk around this site to keep up on THUGPRO, but I wanted to reply to this thread. Good job, you made me finally participate in this community.

You remind me a lot of how I was when I was your age (maybe 5-10 years younger, same difference). Designing a video game on paper with no actual experience in having made a game was a magical time. I guess I'm presuming how much game development experience you have as well. Sorry about that. Anyways, I actually "designed" a skateboarding mmo/chatroom game where you could have a house and make parks and design your own boards and make clothing for your character in the game and it would have super cool music and...

Looking back it was a mess but I was super stoked on it. "how to make a good game easy" is probably in my old google searches multiple hundreds of times. It didn't help that my friend lied to me all the time about how he made a game similar to it really easy but he'd always forget the website it was on.

That being said, making a Tony Hawk clone is very hard. I've tried it myself but I gave up after I started losing hair due to the stress of trying to figure out all of the crazy vector math going on in the Tony Hawk games. I still keep a notebook to scribble ideas but, because I can't find any resources that talk about the kind of math and logic that drives the Tony Hawk games, I feel like nothing I think of will work the way I want it to (that being, like the originals). That doesn't mean you should give up, if you try your hardest you might make a game that's not half bad for a beginners attempt. If you want to make awesome games you've gotta start somewhere, and I'll never knock someone for that.

...

Also for the love of god don't put your pony OC in the game, you'll thank me later

Just to put this out there their engine has always been a custom one and what you refer to as renderware was only a pc port that happen to use files from a renderware engine.
Their math is common matrix / quaternion / vector arithmetic.

Simply using c++ and the directx libraries is what I meant by staying away from a pre built engine like unreal engine.
It's going to take a lot of work either way. Not being able to alter the engine code can lead to undesired results. If the math is wrong in the engine the math will be wrong in your game.

Its okay, I understand, I ramble on alot as well, but thank you for one, and two, for physics, i want to replicate at least the pro skater games, so id say ethier pro skater 3 or pro skater 4, asI want it to be a pro skater game, and tbh yes getting off your board is cool, but its not what made the games as good as they were back then :D

also as a p.s, I was actually thinking of making one of my levels i designed into a custom level for on thug pro, so people know i actually am trying to do this, not just saying this for attetion, plus then i could get feedback on my level desgins :D

It was brainstorming, its hard to come up with a varity of skaters without getting copyrighted, hence why this is even in other games section, It basiclly is a tony hawk game, but without tony hawk, or Jamie thomas, or rodney mullen(sadly :( ) but its hard coming up with ideas that wont get the game copyrighted :/
