Help with HUD

Hey there guys, I was able to make some texture mods for my THUG PRO using TexMod.
I got to change parts of the HUD and some skater textures.

But I wanted to know if there's a way to change the textures without TexMod.
I just got into modding and really want to get deeper into it, I'm really sorry if I'm asking for something stupid.
But anyways, that's my question, thanks a lot to anybody who could help.
