General THPS(X) / Re: THPS5 Added to Wikipedia's List of Worst Video Games

I kind of wish some of it's levels (Moutain) were recreated for THUGPRO
Mountain was OK- likely the best level on the game imo. I always have mixed emotions about linear levels like that (DHJ as well)- it's kinda fun to feel like you travelled down a long hill or mountain, but I like being able to travel around in a more open world type concept too, makes for more interesting lines, prov feels more free, etc. I did like the Rooftops level on THPS5 too, some good lines on there.

Sounds fun! I might re-make a concept I did years ago...

General THPS(X) / Re: Boost Revert Park (No Speed Loss From Reverts)
« on: November 09, 2016, 06:29:21 PM »

Parks like this were fairly common when the boosters first were introduced. Have you ever played EvilGod's 'SuperScraper'? It has stacked booster walls and then rails running in a grid all along it- there are hundreds of gaps on it, so your score gets racked up incredibly quickly when playing it. I always like to host it and play Score Challenge and see who can land like 10,000,000 first.

So fun to always mess with the realms of what can be done.

Was everyone happy with the "5 Gaps, 3 Goals" rule?

Yup. I'm a huge proponent of gaps and goals, makes CAPS more interesting imo.

Another idea would be to require the use of a specific CAP piece, like you must incorporate a skyscraper piece, or mega-ramp piece, etc.

I'm happy with 5th- especially since I haven't built a CAP in so long. Grats to ThAEm on the W!

Try some criticism/feedback! I would love some more in-depth analasys of what the judges think, rather than some summed up numbers and a ranking list. I'm glad you guys liked my entry, but I can't say for myself what you guys liked about it.

I agree- it would be great top have a breakdown of at least how each park was rated per category it was judged in. That is helpful for the builders to know where/how they can improve. Fully know how long it takes to do all of this reagrdless, but that little piece could be useful for all future builds.

I'll do this again as I enjoyed it! Thanks a TON to all of the judges for taking the time to do this!!

Who won? Video says it'seems still processing.

Yeah It work  :)
thank thedodeman you were right my folder was hiding lol

Great! Glad that worked for you. Enjoy!

This may help as the folder is probably hidden:

Typically parks are stored in your saved data folder uder 'Users'.

Got mine finished and uploaded. Space issues as I always remember...had to downsize my original concept a TON. I enjoyed it though!

Good luck to everyone!

Contests & Tournaments / Re: CAP Contests: How do you prefer them?

I'm late to the party on this, but I think 1 week is ample time for park creation and I voted as such. But getting together a group of people to judge the park can be a bit more of a chore, especially since there aren't just tons of random people online constantly by the hundreds anymore.

Back when we reviewed CAPs for Create-A-Review, we has a set group of admins/mods from the site itself and one or two of us would always do the reviews with a full room of people. We would play every single game possible on the CAP and then get everyone's score rating as well as their thoughts. We would throw out blatant harsh stuff, but overall I think the system worked pretty well. sk8ace, if you would like I can give a more formal run-down of some of the things we learned and such over the multiple years we did this. Screenshots were always a bitch, but that's not an issue these days. We would typically do videos as well later in the site's history. My gosh, having to use capture cards on a PS2, and then compress the videos to I feel old...

At any rate- I'd be down for helping to judge if needed- but I know that I'm not as well-known anymore so yeah...

Back on-topic: I think that a good compromise on this could be 2 contests per month, 1 week for the builds to be submitted and then a one week turn-around for the judging and annoucement of the winner.

Got started on my build last night. I'm so stuff will be more old school...not even sure what everyone likes these days. Is straight improv still the rage?

This almost makes me want to dust off the dirt and make some CAPs!
We used to do similar concpets back on Create-A-Review.
I am absolutely amazed people are still creating things after all these years.
