Questions & Tutorials / Re: [Other] - What I want in next THUGPro Update
« on: September 24, 2019, 12:07:30 pm »
I was very impressed by the amount of content in last year's update.  A lot of minor changes were made in this year's update, but it doesn't seem like things have significantly improved.  I could be wrong, but it feels like the THUGPro team is trying to polish a finished product at this point rather than preparing for more significant future updates.  I'm grateful for what the THUGPro team has done so far, and it's their right to walk away from the project if they choose to, but I wish they would be a little more upfront about what's going on with them.

I'm not complaining because I know the THUGPro team doesn't get paid for anything they do and they've done an incredible job on previous updates, but it does seem like they've mostly given up at this point.  It's been over a year and only one new level has been added.  Progress has slowed down a lot.  The community has shown what it can do with all of the new custom levels and characters that are available for download on this website.  Maybe it's time that the THUGPro team started outsourcing some of its work to other members of the community.

I still want to see some type of vehicle menu in THUGPro. Considering that this was a feature in TheMod before THUGPro even existed, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Questions & Tutorials / Re: AVG removed THUG Pro thinking it's a virus.
« on: November 20, 2018, 09:39:16 am »
Go into AVG. Select "Menu" and then select "Quarantine". THUGPro.exe should be on the list. Select it and then click "Restore". The file should now be restored to the THUG Pro directory. Close the "Quarantine" menu. Now select "Menu", "Settings", and then "Exceptions". Browse for the THUGPro.exe file and add it to your list of exceptions. This should prevent AVG from deleting the file again. You will likely also have to add the THUGPro.exe file to your list of allowed apps under "Ransomware Protection". To do this, return to the main menu, select "Hacker Attacks", and then open "Ransomware Protection".  Select "Blocked / Allowed apps" and then select "Allow an App". Browse for the THUGPro.exe file and add it to the list. You should probably add THUGProLauncher.exe to both lists as well. Just to be on the safe side.

Create-A- / Re: Conversion of Philly from Proving Ground for Thug Pro
« on: November 07, 2018, 05:55:58 pm »
Awesome job! This level is basically perfect. I hope the developers decide to include it in an official update. I don't think they're planing on converting Proving Ground levels over to THUG Pro. Your conversion appears to be completely up to their standards though; with the exception of not being able to graffiti tag or sticker slap anything, which isn't a very big deal. I'm guessing that you're planning on converting the Baltimore and Washington D.C. levels as well. I'm sure those levels would be just as enjoyable.

General THPS(X) / Re: Suggestion: Local Splitscreen
« on: March 13, 2018, 11:47:35 am »
I want local splitscreen to be added also.  It bothers me that so many of the newer PC games don't have this feature.  I like playing video games with my friends while hanging out in person.  Whatever happened to the old days when people used have fun socializing and snack on food while playing Pro Skater 3 on PS2 or whatever other game system they had.  There used to be some spirit in playing video games back before the world gave in to all these new stimulating technologies.  I miss the early 2000s.

A new article on Unseen64 talks about how EA Games commissioned Criterion Games to develop a Skate or Die reboot for Xbox and Playstation 2 in 2002.  The game would have allowed you to get off your board and walk; a feature that was not included in a Tony Hawk game until the 2003 release of Tony Hawk's Underground.  It was also planned to feature skate shops that you could walk into and buy boards, like in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.  There is a good chance that Neversoft was inspired by the planned features for this game.  It may have even inspired the changes that took place between Pro Skater 3 and Pro Skater 4, since talking to pedestrians to start goals was one of the planned features for the Skate or Die reboot, prior to the release of Pro Skater 4.

I'm not sure if anything was publicly known about the Skate or Die reboot at its time of development, but it sounds like the developers at Criterion were pretty angry at EA because of their unrealistic demands.  Criterion may have shared their work with Neversoft out of spite for the way EA was treating them, or they may have just wanted their work to live on in some form.

Create-A- / Re: Custom Level Ideas/requests?
« on: February 12, 2017, 09:40:45 am »
Someone could port the levels from Extreme Boards and Blades, and Boards and Blades 2.  Both games were published by Activision.  The first game actually predates Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.  They were both pretty awful games though.

The Skateboard Park Tycoon games were also published by Activision.  In those games you create the parks yourself though, and actual skating is only part of it.  The most recent one was released in 2003.

Someone should port the bike park from Bully to THUG Pro.

Other Games / Re: The Need for Speed series
« on: January 06, 2017, 10:54:26 am »
My favorites are Need for Speed Underground 2, Most Wanted 2005, and Carbon.  Underground 2 doesn't have as nice of cars as Most Wanted 2005 and Carbon, so I've patched over a lot of the ones in that game with ones I've downloaded from NFSCars.  EA Games was pretty greedy with Need for Speed World, but the gigantic map from that game is nice.  Since EA took down their servers for NFS World, someone made a patch that makes the entire game playable offline and all cars and car customization options available for free.  It can be downloaded on the Elitepvpers forum, but you need to register with them to access the download links.

Would it be possible to port the vehicles from the THPS3 version of Airport into the THUG2 version?  That's the most significant improvement that could be made to the THUG2 versions of the THPS3 levels, in my opinion.

All of the levels in the videos that Morten just posted links to are actually from Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2.  The same game that the Chicago level from THPS4 was originally ported from.  I was kind of hoping to see MHPBMX2 levels in THUG Pro at some point, but I can understand why the devs wouldn't want to include them.  The levels were originally designed for BMX, so they may not be as good for skating.  I like playing the Chicago level, but the other levels might not be as smooth.  I think the Oklahoma City level would also be good for skating, but it may have issues that wouldn't become obvious until after it's been tested.

Other Games / Re: What other games deserve the THUGPro treatment?
« on: December 11, 2016, 01:56:29 pm »
Not even close. It has many features and an awesome engine, but it falls short of being the THUGPRO of smash because of the smaller number of maps and charatcers. So I'd say Project M is 50% of what it could have been.

Libertyernie's Classic Expansion Pack for Brawl is pretty nice.  I haven't used it in a long time though.  It includes almost all of the levels from Melee and 64.  The last time I played it, which was several years ago, only 4 of the Melee stages didn't work.  I stuck with version 4.51, because that version had all of the Subspace Emissary stages, which he decided not to include in later updates for some reason.  Versions 7.0 and 8.0 are available for download, but I'm not sure if the older versions are still available for download anywhere.  He also released a nice texture pack that improved on the alternate costumes of several characters, but it looks like the download link for that is broken now.
