There's a mysterious red face that can be found if you glitch under the amusement park (or boardwalk arcade) in Santa Cruz.
(The square is still there but the face texture is removed in THAW & THUGPRO so it's just a grey square. It's also hard to get there since the amusement park area's removed in those games.)
I talked about it in a THUGPRO server a while ago and I haven't seen it anywhere online besides on one Youtube video that's deleted now.
So yesterday I spent time resurrecting my old PSP.
Earlier I put in my broken copy of THUG2 Remix (that's literally held together with tape) and was able to take a screenshot of the face with my 3DS.

That old deleted video that was on Youtube was on a camera as well.
If I knew how to take a screenshot I would've done it.
My PSP has custom firmware (modded) now so maybe there's something that allows screenshots?
What's weird is how the face is very blurry & creepy looking & how you can only see it by glitching out of bounds.
-
Well, aren't there easter eggs you can only see by glitching OoB, anyway?
Like Vans Park's skeleton? :T
-
I don't think it's an easter egg.I don't think the Neversoft Team would expect you to go off the map.I think both the face and the skeleton were supposed to be used but they forgot or decided not to use it.
Vans Park has that "DON'T TOUCH STUPID!" Warning in the eletric thing near the D-Bowl,and you'd probably turn into that skeleton for a second if you get too close.

The skeleton is used in THAW.
Board Whack that "DON'T TOUCH STUPID!" sign and you'll see what happens... ;)
(I don't know if it works online though. It works in Story Mode & Freeskate.)

I just did it.Thought it was an unused project.PS not working online :S

Didn't know it was actually used.. My bad. ._.

I havent seen the PSP versions of the levels. I never knew they chnaged them for THAW. Also, I never see online

Santa Cruz
Same as in THAW.
The only difference is that there's an amusement park area behind the building near the 1P spawn point.
Atlanta
Same as in THAW.
Kyoto
Same as in THAW.
The only difference is that you can trigger a cutscene by Sticker Slapping the sirens on the rooftops which causes the giant footprint that you see in THAW.
Las Vegas (Casino from THAW.)
Same as in THAW.
However, there's an upstairs area with an elevator. There's also a cutscene that triggers if you Sticker Slap the "Falls" sign outside. It causes the "S" from the sign to fall and destroy the little bank area (which is replaced with the East LA loading tunnel in THAW).
The original THUG2 levels are completely the same.
Online is just LAN play only.
There's no chat (besides the taunt strings) and only up to 4 people can join servers.
There's also no CAP.
Other than that, THUG2 Remix is pretty much the exact same as THUG2.
It's just THUG2 with more cutscenes, levels, some bug fixes, and no CAP editor.

That is..... kinda creepy. Gonna try this on my PSP!

PPSSPP got texture replacement a while back and I think also fixed the THUG2 Remix crash. I'll get a screenshot in a bit and dump the texture too.
Really cool find!
EDIT: Here's the screenshot: (Mmm, THUG2 Remix textures at 1080p.)

EDIT: And here's the texture. It's only 8x8, so I also scaled it to 256x256 without filtering.

Zero skateboards skull? That's what it looks like to me.

Looks like an unused test image that they forgot to delete.
What's weird is how the square is still there in THAW/THUGPRO but it's just grey.

No idea either lol I still don't know why the levels are different at all. THUG2R released in January or March of 2005 while THAW released in October of 2005. By those measurements, Neversoft should've been sent the completed level source files for compiling them into THAW formats. The only reasons I can come up with are:
1. They were sent early, incomplete versions either early on in THAW's development or later on due to some file mix up and it was too late to fix. Makes some sense, considering Casino in particular is a story level so they would need it kind of early on, perhaps even in an unfinished state. And what is an elevator and tiny upper room to normal players? Only those of us still playing the games in 2016 are probably obsessed enough to know these changes lol
2. Memory allocation in THAW meant they needed to cut parts of the levels because it was the quickest way to solve the issue. But I'm skeptical of this because, sure, the level textures are better in THAW, but the poly count looks the same. Going from PSP to PS2 is such a considerable leap too.
Either way, my ideas just play off my other feeling which is that THAW was super rushed and tried to do too much in too little time. And I think I've heard others thought the same.

did you just quote your own post and add nothing?
-
I was able to successfully dump my old, broken copy of THUG2 Remix as an ISO and put it on my memory stick.
I also installed RemoteJoyLite on my PSP.
I'm now able to record this game. (No audio though.)
This is not an emulator. This is actual footage from my PSP. The game is running on real hardware.
(I was bailing like crazy because I forgot which tricks I assigned. I was also testing the controls since I was using my Xbox One controller.)
I tried doing this with THP8 as well but I don't think that THP8's compatible with RemoteJoyLite. It crashes when I launch the game.

Nope, literally no idea why that was there. Other than to fuel my constant paranoia.

So THAW is pretty much a "THPS Map Collection" with some new ones and a Story Mode.

It seems like it.
This is what's left of the face in THUGPRO.

I plugged an audio cable from my PSP to the headset jack on my Xbox One controller (connected to my laptop via USB).
The headphone/microphone combo jack on my laptop doesn't work with this for some reason.
So because of that, this is pretty much the best that I can do for audio recording on my PSP.
As you can tell, it's HORRIBLE. (I even had to amplify the audio with Audacity.)
