Title: Two things

1) Perhaps allow the forums to scroll even while the mouse is hovered over the left sidebar. Kind of a personal annoyance more than anything.
2) From the forums list subforums have their icon colored if there is a topic that hasn't been read.
Now lets say that subforum has multiple unread topic and I read one but go back to the main forums That subforum no longer notifies that there are unread topics even though unread topics exist.

I've actually had the opposite happen to me a few times.

1. I'll continue looking for a solution but I haven't found much relating to this.

2. This might be a limitation of the SMF itself. Might have to add something custom to the code.
