What do you all think?

I voted for 1 week long.

I voted for the original idea I came up with in my original post.

Week 1: Park
(winner joins judges)
Week 2: Gaps and goals (and minor edits?). (Anyone can join, no matter whether you joined week one, unless winner)
Week 3: Speedrun. (anyone can join, even judges, since it doesnt have to be judged. Speed is a statistic)

I also submitted my park with this in mind.

1 Week is plenty of time. The CAP editor is not too complicated anyway and a good level could be made in around 2 - 6 hours.

Who's organizing all of this? If this is Chatter's tournament but sk8ace is doing all the work in terms of preparation and organization you sound very demanding at this point, Chatter. I don't see the point in a best goal or the fastest time beating those goals, that's what playing the park with others is for.

When making a park in 1 - 2 hours the term 'good' becomes very subjective.

I'm not meaning to be demanding, just very frustrated the rules are being changed mid way. I made my park with the old rules in mind and now my park can be rendered useless.

I voted for 1 week, Soaring Wings is right, a good map takes less than a day to make, plus, in the way, we can add gaps and goals!

And i think i got an idea. 2 weeks, 1 for CAP creation and submission and 1 for judges rating the park in all aspects possible. After the 2 weeks, they pick the winner.

Anyway, at this rate, we might need to start another alpha-testing contest after this one, would you imagine what if we hadn't done a practice contest before starting the actual thing? Not me, for sure!

Things might change mid-way so better start the real one until everything is clear of how will it work for everyone!

The week submission period is more for giving everyone the time to create a park and get it turned in, not that it should take a week to build a park. Judging the parks should take no longer than an hour or 2.

I think the next one, we will include more judging items like gaps and goals. Make people create a complete park and then get judged on all of it.

I am going to make a separate contest page with leaderboards. Thinking about having 2 CAP Contests a month, alternating weeks. Then we can fill in the other weeks with different contests/tourneys.

Can we start looking at submissions now or must we wait until Friday?

Still up for tomorrow but how are we actually judging? is there a kind of way the judges are like grouping together so we join the same game or something? lol

I was planning on judging Saturday (give people till midnight to get their parks in).

We can try to play at the same time, even if we have to host some parks separately (for freezing issues).

I was going to get on around 2PM Eastern time and do it. Let me know what works for you.

I'm late to the party on this, but I think 1 week is ample time for park creation and I voted as such. But getting together a group of people to judge the park can be a bit more of a chore, especially since there aren't just tons of random people online constantly by the hundreds anymore.

Back when we reviewed CAPs for Create-A-Review, we has a set group of admins/mods from the site itself and one or two of us would always do the reviews with a full room of people. We would play every single game possible on the CAP and then get everyone's score rating as well as their thoughts. We would throw out blatant harsh stuff, but overall I think the system worked pretty well. sk8ace, if you would like I can give a more formal run-down of some of the things we learned and such over the multiple years we did this. Screenshots were always a bitch, but that's not an issue these days. We would typically do videos as well later in the site's history. My gosh, having to use capture cards on a PS2, and then compress the videos to Divx...man I feel old...

At any rate- I'd be down for helping to judge if needed- but I know that I'm not as well-known anymore so yeah...

Back on-topic: I think that a good compromise on this could be 2 contests per month, 1 week for the builds to be submitted and then a one week turn-around for the judging and annoucement of the winner.

Update:

I like the way we do it now.
(Park+goals+gaps) all in 1-ish week.

I would like to see some sort of speedrun contest, maybe, or a goal-attack contest, because that way we can do more with our parks than just hey, here's a park, I submitted it for the contest. Oh? You won? Well, lets move over to next contest! Your park will probably be forgotten soon.

My thinking might be a bit far-fetched and maybe it seems like I want to have everyone worship the winning entries, but I'm just trying to get my point across :P

I'm down for any type of contest we might do, and I will likely participate in all/most.
