I am proud of 2nd place! I have a tip for you people though. Try some criticism/feedback! I would love some more in-depth analasys of what the judges think, rather than some summed up numbers and a ranking list. I'm glad you guys liked my entry, but I can't say for myself what you guys liked about it. I caught a few things in the stream, such as how (I think Enunn?) liked my combo walkway, combo high rail, and scavenger SKATE goals.
ThAEm, Amazing job on your park! You deserve this win. Your park is everything it should've been, and it's very fun to skate on. I loved the container ideas as well.
Very excited to see what contest(s) will be coming up. Hopefully everyone enjoyed this one!

I'm happy with 5th- especially since I haven't built a CAP in so long. Grats to ThAEm on the W!

I agree- it would be great top have a breakdown of at least how each park was rated per category it was judged in. That is helpful for the builders to know where/how they can improve. Fully know how long it takes to do all of this reagrdless, but that little piece could be useful for all future builds.
I'll do this again as I enjoyed it! Thanks a TON to all of the judges for taking the time to do this!!

Man, ThAEm's map was so neat, i think i might've learned a thing or two!
The other entries were great too, good job everyone!
-
Btw, sk8ace, i got a little suggestion.
Instead of pressing Spacebar who knows how many times, you could perhaps use the table code.
Here's a couple of little examples:

Author Park Score

User1 Park Score

User2 Park Score

1.1 1.21.3

2.1 2.22.3

3.1 3.23.3

All you'll have to do is copy the last line from
to
, paste it and then edit it.

Oh nice, I didn't realize tables were a thing on the forum. Basically the same as javascript.
Next one will include comments about each category. I would like all the next judges to be on the same stream and voice chat so we can discuss parks together and also rate them live. We'll have to be a bit more organized for that to work though. It's hard getting everyone synced up.. plus everyone lives in different time zones. If we can't do it on stream, we will at least have written notes for each park.

Boomtime Car Factory 59 8
Yeah, i'm never entering any THPS contests ever again. XD
-
Congrats ThAEm ayy
-
You better keep entering parks. You'll get better every time!
-
Thanks everyone! ;D
I really liked this contest and I had fun making the park as well. The other entries were cool, too. I especially liked Nuke, Flow Factory, and Acid King Factory.

Thanks Chatter. I liked your ideas, too. Especially the walkway, hidden path, and the corner pillars.
For the next contest's theme, I'm gonna think about that...
-
Well I can't find any skate spots that can fit the category
soaring wings agrees with me kek but I can try again to see if I can pop in some lines that actually work.
Still, everytime i look at the places, i feel so fucking dismotivated lmao

We'll try to get the next one started on Friday the 11th so you have a week to think of something.
Also, you can add rules that people have to follow as well as picking the theme.
Was everyone happy with the "5 Gaps, 3 Goals" rule?

Was everyone happy with the "5 Gaps, 3 Goals" rule?
Yup. I'm a huge proponent of gaps and goals, makes CAPS more interesting imo.
Another idea would be to require the use of a specific CAP piece, like you must incorporate a skyscraper piece, or mega-ramp piece, etc.
-
Nice, good idea!
-
@ThAEm
Thanks for saying that. I am a big fan of hidden areas, so I tried making one, and it ended up nicely. Good luck picking the next theme! Also, feel free to suggest different contests/rules/ideas.
@Boomtime
Yeah, I felt the same about the de-motivation, however, I only look at other entries after I'm finished, to prevent ''accidental'' copying/inspiration. I saw the other entries, and I thought I would get like 5/6th place, just because of how actually skateable the other entries were. I'm glad you entered this time, and as sk8ace said, keep trying, you will get better! Feel free to enter any other contests we do.
@sk8ace & thedodeman
I am a big fan of having required goals and gaps. They are my favourite elements, they make sure a park won't feel bland, and you can even play Goal Attack with them.
As for having a specific required piece, yeah! Let's try it! It'll be interesting to all have 1 specific thing in our parks, then see how we build around it. I'm still just as down for new contests if this rule will not be applied.
-
That rule sounds fun, wish i could participate, lol
Also, i don't understand the scoring system, someone can tell me, please?
-
How about this for a theme: "Out of This World"
Space stations, planets, craters, UFOs, rocket silos, alien sightings, top secret facilities like Roswell and Area 51, etc.
For the rules, I'm happy with the "5 gaps, 3 goals" rule. It definitely makes people express more creativity as well as giving a park more "definition" to it, if you know what I'm saying.

Sounds good, thanks!

The judges rate the park 1-10 on each of the four categories (Max 40 points per judge per park). I then add up the total points for each park from all the judges. The highest total score wins.

Ohh, makes total sense, just like what i had in mind! Thanks! :D
