Title: [Other] - What I want in next THUGPro Update
Post by: neostetic on June 27, 2019, 03:23:54 pm
Good day lads and guys.

I'm new to forum but experienced thugpro for 1 year. I would like to suggest just some ideas for next update for ThugPro. I have been experiencing with TH games, and I want to inspire developers to ad something unique ;)

There are my proposals:

-First
I would like to see some "Local Multiplayer" or "2 Player Mod". I know that THUGPro is based on Online gameplay and this could make game experience better for Friends or others ;).

-Second
Probably ad "More Modes" to Online ;D. I had fun with my brother playing other modes in 2player mode and if some modes will be added into online, gameplay would be more fun and other players could play more often, in my opinion.

-Third
THUGPro is based on Skills and for Newcomers it's just shame to see how other people are good. I would like to prefer "Tutorial" or even its own "Story Mode". This will ad SOME STORY to the game and a lot of players would come to this. (And if there were something like "Co-Op" thing, that would be EPIC :))

I love you guys for Updating this never-dying game what I had/have fun. Hope I inspire someone and see ya ;)

You can create private games using a password and sharing the password with your friends.

>Probably ad "More Modes" to Online ;D. I had fun with my brother playing other modes in 2player mode and if some modes will be added into online, gameplay would be more fun and other players could play more often, in my opinion.

Everything exepct SKATE is in THUGPro and SKATE is just get the same ammount of points or higher then the other person.

If you want a tutorial look some up on YouTube. And I think the devs said they have no intention of story mode.

Thanks for reply,

I just wanted to give some ideas for other update or something else :D. Maybe now I look like idiot but those things I really wanted to game (yes, I know that you can create private server, but I thought that it would be great idea just ad 2player mod). I thought that have more modes in Multiplayer would be something unique, I mean modes like HORSE, FIREFIGHT, SLAP and others. Just as Story Mode, it was just an idea :). And about tutorial, for newcomers it's just better to see some tutorial,
I know, maybe those things are kinda shit, but thanks for answering me

Peace yo  ;)

One feature I really want besides all the THAW levels is to be able to transfer host onwership to a different user so we don't have to keep restarting so many times with a different host

Yeah, absolutely.

Maybe take some levels from Community Levels to the Game.

And...

This thing kinda annoying me too.  When HOST left and whole server is closed. Maybe it could be like if Host left, then it can switch to late one.

There is "maybe" one issue. I don't know how it Hosting works through GameSpy but when a player will host a server, then it's connected to a player and so it's impossible to change to other user (in my opinion this is how it works). So, I don't know... Maybe GameSpy have only permission to change Hosting things... I don't really know.

This is something so small (I think) but I'd love to have the "Thunderstorm" option for every level that is outside. Its just really cool and adds a bit of feeling to game, too, though it seems to be so small.

I still want to see some type of vehicle menu in THUGPro. Considering that this was a feature in TheMod before THUGPro even existed, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Here's my top 10 list of things I'd like to see in a future update would be (in order of personal importance)...

1. Missing levels from THPS1, THPS2, & THAW
2. Decks from other games in the THPS series
3. Night Lights in THPS 1-4 levels (and some THUG1 and THAW Classic Levels) that have a Time of Day toggle option
4. Actually having the ability to Save Nawlins by doing an Airwalk (or whatever you have down-right grab mapped to) after grinding the underworld ring
5. New levels from other games in the Tony Hawk's series. Yes this includes Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure. (Preferably Crete Park and Car factory from THP8)
6. A level option to enable/disable traffic, pedestrians, and NPC skaters
7. Replacing the Australia police car in Los Angeles and Philadelphia with the cop car from American Wasteland
8. Replacing the New Jersey cop car on the Los Angeles freeway with different vehicle
9. Replacing the German Cop at the Airport level with a generic security guard (I'm pretty sure Florida's Airport security doesn't dress like members of the German Police Force.)
10. Replacing the Lost Soul that appears in Venice with the Ollie the Bum model

I think we'll need a menu with the on-line distribution of maps to install new maps right in the game! It's a pity that the community has so many good maps, but nobody plays it because it needs to be found somewhere and some of the newcomers could don't even know that possibility exists. this idea is got so potential...

It could be an additional (net) menu, with screenshots, name of authors, map description and button to Download it with automatic installation. After installation will appears mark (installed) and text of this map change color (or something like that). The design could look similar to choose the map menu. When the player picks a server with the new map, the game should ask, if he wanted to install this map. Also, outer maps could have a star rating system, official (or) and fanmade, fanmade votes invite people to become part of the community on the official site...

At the end of the idea, this menu is could become a full-fledged free shop with CAS, board textures, and other additional stuff approved with moderators. That should get players attention.

In game downloading was talked about pretty much right after the vaults went up here. It's possible but very difficult to get right. Something like that will hopefully get added eventually.

I definitely think some tutorials or explanations would be a nice addition. Sure, there are YouTube videos, but I still can't figure shit out and I've definitely heard from others that they also thought those video tutorials were pretty crap. Including from people who have mastered those techs. Doesn't have to be a full-on storymode, but at least some in-game tutorials on buttslaps and boost plants would be nice.

Expanded CAS support would also be nice. A lot of really fun ones are replacements for characters, and can't be seen by anyone except people who have the same replacements installed. Although that might require some sort of moderation. I can already see certain types of people playing as naked women or large dicks.

I've also been having some problems with my controller. Now I do use a weird adapter thingy, but at any rate, I can't configure the game to use my dpad. In my OS, dpad is seen as both an axis and a button press. If I could just tell the game to use a button as a dpad press, it would work perfectly fine. That's all I need, to be able to press a button an dlet the game think it's a dpad. And maybe a GameCube profile, though I'm probably a little weird for using a GameCube controller for THUG Pro. It's probably a little niche. Oh well, I should probably use some controller remapping program to create a virtual controller for my dpad problem.

They aren't overworked Epic Games employees. This is a free mod. They have lives. They don't need to work on the game 24/7.

Are you under the impression that the THUGPro development team is funded and gets paid to do updates? Let me go ahead and clear the air for you: they don't get a penny to work on this. They do this 100% as volunteers and don't get paid a dime. They do, however, get "paid" in criticism, demands, whining, bitching, and complaining. It is, quite honestly, a miracle they even have any desire to continue work on this mod at all. They work on this in their free time and they all have jobs and lives outside of this effort.

They have consistently been adding "all the levels" over the course of time. You want all the levels added faster? Why don't you learn how to program, make your own mod, and get busy on adding those yourself?

I'm not complaining because I know the THUGPro team doesn't get paid for anything they do and they've done an incredible job on previous updates, but it does seem like they've mostly given up at this point.  It's been over a year and only one new level has been added.  Progress has slowed down a lot.  The community has shown what it can do with all of the new custom levels and characters that are available for download on this website.  Maybe it's time that the THUGPro team started outsourcing some of its work to other members of the community.

Did you not read the patch notes? Do you not understand that FAR more goes into this than just adding new levels? Will everyone be satisfied when all the levels are added from THPS1-Project 8? My conclusion is a resounding "NO!"- people will then want the Proving Ground levels all added, then why don't we add Ride, and Shred, and get those HD and THPS5 levels. That ain't good enough either is it? Nope, gotta get everything from Matt Hoffmann's Pro BMX 1&2...better be sure you add the cities from the Skate series...oh those Disney Extreme Skate Adventure levels have to be in there too.

My point being, it's never good enough. Doesn't matter how much is added, how hard the team works, it's NOT ENOUGH! I don't understand this mentality. How can anyone feel they deserve to make demands on something they are given for absolutely FREE that they themselves did ZERO work on? "Here let me buy you this cup of coffee"...You didn't make it Venti sized! You didn't add whipped cream! You didn't add enough flavoring!..."But I gave it to you free"...NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

The dev team has most certainly NOT "mostly given up"...and that's really insulting to even suggest it. Read the patch notes...lots of work went into this update.

I was very impressed by the amount of content in last year's update.  A lot of minor changes were made in this year's update, but it doesn't seem like things have significantly improved.  I could be wrong, but it feels like the THUGPro team is trying to polish a finished product at this point rather than preparing for more significant future updates.  I'm grateful for what the THUGPro team has done so far, and it's their right to walk away from the project if they choose to, but I wish they would be a little more upfront about what's going on with them.

This makes it sound like something is broken and needs improving...is not the mod fantastic and does it not already give you WAY more options and features than vanilla THUG2?
I wish they would be a little more upfront about what's going on with them.
I won't presume to speak for them, but in most development efforts I have witnessed it's always better to under-promise and over-deliver. They may not share what is being planned for if they say anything they they are nailed to the wall about it. Sometimes things planned don't always work out.

I don't mean to make anyone the brunt of my frustrations with reactions from the community on updates, but I so tire of hearing these things. We, as a community, are entitled to absolutely nothing in regards to this mod. The devs do it of their own free will and they give countless hours of their own free time to provide this for us. That is more than good enough for me and I'm extremely grateful for any sort of update they decide to give to me.
