how shall i approach this and what is the easiest method for someone using a mac. thanks! ;) edit - must say i would like to create a custom logo for a shirt.

They're essentially direct draw surface images with a different header. Depending on what type of image you're going to edit, they'll also need to be swizzled. Decks must be swizzled.
There are tools for this. If you can create a targa image, index its color pallette, make it 32 bit again, save without RLE.
You should be able to use that image in defeat0rs tool.
Unfortunately defeat0rs tools are windows applications.

Ive got wineapp which makes it possible to run windows programs on a mac. You know where i can get this defeat0r app? And what else would i be needing? Cheers!!

http://thmods.com/mod_tools/
look for sources.zip file
inside there should be tools 'tga2img' and 'img2tga'
use any image editor to edit a converted tga from img or create your own tga image.
use tga2img to convert them for use in game.

just a question, i cant make the files on the folder tga2img work because those seem to be only the source code, im wondering if i need like an .exe file to run those.
-
There should be a directory named defeat0r
Inside this directory are some container files
Look for the img2tga and tga2img for ug2 that doesn't have 'src' in the file name and it should have an exe inside.

great, but i get a .dat file am i supposed to change the extension to .img.xbx? thanks.
edit : managed to get the file as .xbx but its not replacing logos..

uhm, its been a while and i havent heard from you? im just going to try and re-do this process, but as far as ive gone with this, i never got a solid answer as to where i could get the "thug" or "thugpro" edition for the conversion of the images. cheers!
-
You need to be using the thug2 version of the tool for thugpro images.
It's in the sources directory labeled with *_ug2*.
You're asking specific help with doing this on a mac and as far as I can tell you're using the wrong tool but this very well could be something the system is doing to the extension.
