Works perfectly fine on windows 7 using the default driver as well as DS4windows with a ds4 version 2.
Windows will install default drivers for you and those drivers should work in windows but not everywhere else.
What version of the controller do you have?
I really hate all these third party "solutions" to ds3/ds4 controllers because they aren't all the same and some are plain shit.

That "fact" of it working fine is a correlational fallacy.
My ps4 controller works fine in windows 7 but the game cant use it because it cant acquire the device with the GUID the device gives.
What OS are you on. It sounds like you're on windows 10 with the broken set of drivers.
The launcher has been tested with ps2, ps4 (wired and wireless), xbox 360 (wired) on windows 7 by me. It was also tested with an xbox one s controller wired and via bluetooth on Windows 10.

Has been tested to be fully working with a ps4 controller version2 under Windows 7 using DS4Windows. Wired and wireless.

There has to be another file associated with the .wad
Whether it be a .hed, .dat, .whatever or in the case of thaw sound paks the sfx pak is the 'wad' and the 'hed' data is found in the sfx_dat.qb
The other file stores the entries of each file; checksum, offset and size for each file in the wad.
Unless there is padding between each file in the wad and/or each file in the wad has a fourcc magic number doing this manually would be impossible.

You shouldn't need to run THUG Pro as admin.
With that being said, navigate to \Users\<username>\AppData\Local\THUG Pro
Back up your saves, if you have any, and delete the THUG Pro directory.
Try running the installer again.
If the installer still throws an error.
Run regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\THUG Pro\Settings
and delete the key named thug2_path
Try running the installer again.

You need to be using the thug2 version of the tool for thugpro images.
It's in the sources directory labeled with *_ug2*.
You're asking specific help with doing this on a mac and as far as I can tell you're using the wrong tool but this very well could be something the system is doing to the extension.
